Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Torino

Imago Mundi, the global artistic project created by Luciano Benetton, under the auspices of Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche, puts Italian contemporary art on show.

The collection dedicated to Italy will be presented at the world premiere in Turin, at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, from Monday ,18th May to Sunday, 21st June.

The collection — curated by Luca Beatrice — includes works by 420 artists who have shared the project from North to South, from West to East, presenting their vision of Italy in a 10×12 centimetre format. Well-established artists and young talents, as well as architects, designers, photographers, people in advertising, musicians, actors compose a vital, generous, democratic mosaic as per the Imago Mundi tradition.

The exhibition (like the two catalogues: 210 authors each, in strict alphabetical order, available at the exhibition) crosses the country, presenting the creativity of metropolises as well as the many talents of the provinces, with a special focus on women’s artistic sensitivity.

“Praestigium stems from a pride in our cultural roots but aims at being, above all, the proud representation of our possible future: artistic, social and moral at the same time,” said Luciano Benetton. “The commitment, sensitivity, the courage to look ahead and the inquiring spirit of our artists represent signs of positive Italianness sent out in the world”.

Today, Imago Mundi looks at new artistic horizons in the name of the encounter and coexistence of expressive diversities: 100 countries will be involved by 2015, with more than 20,000 artists.

The project promotes them internationally through catalogues, the www.imagomundiart.com platform, participation in shows and exhibitions, in cooperation with private and public institutions worldwide.

Inauguration to the public: Monday, May 18th at 7 pm.
