Enrico Fontanari collection

Urbanist, professor of urban planning and landscape design at the IUAV University of Venice, Enrico Fontanari (1952-2020) has carried out research in the fields of spatial planning and urban and landscape design and taught in post-graduate coursesdegree, collaborating with various universities in Italy and abroad. As an urban planner, he has worked nationally and internationally for the drafting of Master Plans for cities and metropolitan areas and as a consultant to various international bodies.

Contents of collection

The collection, composed of about 2400 publications, is part of the professional and personal library of Enrico Fontanari. It includes monographs and periodicals related to themes and topics of architecture and landscape history (with particular attention to city landscape and urbanization) urban planning and urban history, architecture of the Venetian area, Venetian and Triveneta (with a focus on rural areas), garden, architecture, sustainable development, restoration and conservation; the materials also well document the interest in the architecture of the South American and Iberian area (with volumes in Spanish) and contain a selection of literature texts.

It should be noted that another substantial part of the Fontanari collection, consisting of 900 books and 34 files, were donated to the IUAV University of Venice, and are currently preserved at the library.
