Treviso Comic Book Festival

Personal exhibition of Andy Rementer
-

As part of the 2017 edition of the Treviso Comic Book Festival, Fondazione Benetton will host the exhibition Andy Rementer is back, which will see the return to Treviso of Andy Rementer, a multi-award-winning US creative, who was a fellow at Fabrica from 2004 to 2006.
With a set-up indeed curated by Fabrica, the exhibition, set to open on Friday 22 September at 10 p.m., delves into the artist’s daring and prolific works, revealing his colourful universe of drawings, cartooning, painting and animation. Rementer’s passion for drawing, colour and storytelling is represented in the exhibition through a collection of fanzines, sculptures and illustrations created in the last 10 years of his career, which is exhibited alongside original sketchbooks revealing the specific features of his creative approach. Thanks to Rementer’s brilliant and often ironic visual style, visitors are immersed in a vibrant and surreal imaginary world bursting with colours, stories and characters.

On 20 September, at 6.30 p.m., Rementer will be at Fabrica for a conference open to the public where he will talk about how the training period he spent at the research centre shaped his critical thinking, building the foundation for a successful career.

Raised in a Victorian city by the sea, Andy Rementer is fascinated by the past and has a passion for handmade typography, vintage colours and browsing around flea markets. After graduating from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2004, he won a scholarship at Fabrica. He later moved to the East Coast where he devotes himself equally to paintings, illustrations, drawings and comics.

His colourful and vibrant works have been published, among others, by The New York Times, MTV, Urban Outfitters, The New Yorker, Warner Brothers, Apartamento Magazine and Creative Review. His works have been exhibited throughout Europe, America and Asia. Andy recently received the Young Guns Award from the Art Directors Club.
