The research on cultural heritage between landscapes and technologies

The management and preservation of cultural heritage require transversal skills. For the protection of monumental areas, aspects related to surveys with advanced technical means must be taken into account, as well as everything required for the correct coexistence between cultural heritage and nature. Surveys with the most sophisticated means are crucial for popularisation and are useful tools for maintenance and reconstruction, as in the case of monumental areas destroyed in war contexts. The management of natural components is often a neglected aspect, resulting in unsuitable landscaping solutions, although not harmful to the monuments. The intervention of a landscape designer with specific experience in the monumental sector is therefore essential. The event is organised by the Foundation, in collaboration with the CNR (National Research Council of Italy), on the occasion of the National Geographic Festival of Sciences.

With the participation of: Alberta Campitelli, art and garden historian; Tessa Matteini, Landscape Architecture, University of Florence; Eva Pietroni, Institute for Technologies Applied to Cultural Heritage – CNR; Alfonsina Russo, director, and Gabriella Strano, Colosseum Archaeological Park, MIBACT;  Marco Tamaro, director, Benetton Foundation.

In addition, on Thursday 19th April at 10 am, some students of the Article 9 of the Constitution project will take part in a TED talk and challenge each other in a team competition to test what they learnt during the project.

Speakers for the CNR: Gilberto Corbellini, director, Department of Human Sciences and Cultural Heritage; Vanni Antoni, director, Ionised Gas Institute; Domenico Laforenza, director, Institute of Informatics and Telematics; Elisabetta Baldanzi and Alessandro Parisi, researchers at the Italian National Optics Institute.
