The documentation centre of Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche, designed around the study and research needs connected to the Foundation’s scientific work, was opened to the public in 1990, year when the library was inaugurated. In the following years the organisation of the iconographic archive was added, followed by the construction of the map library and, from the end of the nineties, the design of the archive.
All involved scholars and researchers cooperate in the construction of the documentation centre, with reports on the various sectors. All of the materials acquired and produced during the Foundation’s work in its various ramifications are collected in the relative sections.
Collections and book and documentary archives, from donations or acquisitions, are stored and made available, preserving their unity, in the relative sections.
All the published materials, preserved in the library and map library, are catalogued and accessible through the general catalogue on electronic media, also available on the Internet. The documentation concerning the archive and iconographic archive has been partially catalogued and inventoried.
The services offered by the documentation centre revolve around: reference, loans (local, inter-library), document delivery, internet station, station for browsing multimedia materials, reproduction (self service or on request), study room, browsing room, researches on request, guided tours.
Since 2003 the documentation centre houses workshops on specific projects.
